Life-threatening emergency (cardiac arrest, serious accident, respiratory distress)? Call 141 (SAMU) or 150 (Civil Protection) immediately.
The short answer
The public SAMU (141) is the State medical emergency service — free and intended for immediate life-threatening emergencies (cardiac arrest, serious accident, respiratory distress). A private ambulance like SAMU Marrakech is an independent service, booked for hospital transfers, returns home and non-critical medical transport, with a fast response and dedicated support. The two are complementary: for a life-threatening emergency, always call 141 or 150 (Civil Protection).

When to call the public SAMU (141)
141 is the number of the SAMU, Morocco’s public urgent medical aid service. Dial it — or call 150 (Civil Protection) — the moment a life is in immediate danger. It is a free, State-run service regulated by doctors who dispatch resources matched to the severity, working with the CHU Mohammed VI in Marrakech for hospital care.
Call 141 without hesitation in the following situations:
- Cardiac arrest, loss of consciousness or absence of breathing
- Serious road accident or major trauma
- Acute respiratory distress or choking
- Severe chest pain suggesting a heart attack
- Heavy bleeding, serious burns or signs of a stroke
When to choose a private ambulance
A private ambulance like SAMU Marrakech is not a life-saving emergency service: it is the right solution for medical transport that is not an immediate emergency but still calls for seriousness, speed and support — including to and from the Clinique Internationale de Marrakech and the clinics of Guéliz.
Use a private ambulance for:
- A hospital transfer from one facility to another (CHU Mohammed VI, Clinique Internationale, private clinics)
- A return home after hospitalisation, including deep inside the Medina
- Transport to a consultation, examination or session (dialysis, imaging, etc.)
- Comfortable stretcher transport for a person with reduced mobility
- A non-critical situation that still requires a fast, medicalised vehicle
The two services are complementary
It is not about choosing “the best”: the public SAMU and the private ambulance play different roles and complement each other. 141 handles life-threatening emergencies and State medical regulation; the private ambulance relieves the public system of scheduled, non-critical transport while offering responsiveness and comfort.
SAMU Marrakech is a private ambulance service independent from the public SAMU (141) and Civil Protection (150). We never replace these emergency services: we operate alongside them, for medical transport needs that are not life-threatening. If you are unsure about the severity, the rule stays simple: call 141.
How SAMU Marrakech works
SAMU Marrakech runs on a managed model: our teams — certified ambulance attendants, plus nurses or a partner doctor as needed — are coordinated directly by our service, available 24/7 across Marrakech and its surroundings. Our teams know the access constraints of the Medina (narrow alleys, restricted traffic) and adapt the pickup point accordingly.
To arrange transport, simply call our direct line (+212 625 55 86 87) or message us on WhatsApp. We assess the situation, dispatch the most suitable vehicle and staff, and provide the documents you need for any AMO/CNSS coverage. The price is set by a personalised quote, shared before the intervention.
